lets decide now. if i draft him and yahoo 'splits' this guy into pitcher and hitter do i own both? can i toggle daily between pitcher and hitter? or do i need to keep 2 ohtani's on my roster thus having only 24 players if effect.

Thanks 2 Yahoo’s decision, my understanding is u would need 2 Ohtanis on ur roster, thereby only 24 different players. But I think u should only have to draft “one” Ohtani...thereby a 2 for 1 draft pick but it’ll cost u 2 roster spots. Interesting trade off!
so there will ba an ohtani hitter and a seperate ohtani pitcher. i draft him i get both but for my roster i can choose pitcher or hitter and only take up 1 roster spot. on days hes not pitching i can drop the pitcher and roster the hitter. sound good?

I disagree, as I said earlier, he should count as 2 roster spots but only cost u 1 draft pick. Then again, I’m still a junior member here but that’s my opinion!
To be able to switch back n forth would b completely unfair. IMHO it would b paramount to streaming a SP, which I believe is highly frowned upon in these parts.

yeah the two sep spots would occupy two slots on your 25 man roster.
I think as a league we could make an exception that you own the two guys, but as far as Yahoo is concerned they will penalize you on expending two slots for the one guy.
Perhaps you could use a waiver slot, and toggle Ohtani year round between pitcher and hitter. That's one solution for you if you were to draft him.

Also, would his Min salary now be $1.2M??? Easier if he stayed in Japan. All joking aside, he would need 2 b treated as 2 players n each would cost $600K Min on initial salary.

I respectfully disagree with Yanks.
Just b/c Yahoo doesnt know how to handle the website end of Otani's player positions doesnt mean we should be obtuse as well.
I say whoever drafts Otani owns both guys, and that team has the option to stream the hitter and pitcher for the entire Yahoo season. He is one guy. Period. The streaming we dont like are the ones that involves more than one player. I think this is simple and shouldnt be complicated.

This would b my compromise solution (that’s if my opinion even counts-lol), Both Ohtanis get drafted by same team, BUT r treated as 2 separate players (with same name by coincidence-lol). We apply all the same rules as we do for any MiLB drafted player. So if LAA doesn’t allow him to play OF this year, as a hitter he could remain in the Minors but be promoted to Majors as SP only...yes his hitting stats still wouldn’t count, just like any other SP. if we treat it as Yahoo is, 2 separate players, then everything should work out fairly. It’d b up to Chi or whoever to either have both on roster, 1 in Minors, or even Trade 1. Benefit is getting BOTH with just 1 draft pick. Kind of like being told instead of drafting 1 player, u can draft 2 but 1 must b SP n 1 must b Util.
I’m done expressing my thoughts, I’ll abide by whatever The Godfathers decide!
