My proposal is that the owner of Ohtani has no restriction on his use. He is a special player by virtue of Yahoo making him available for both offense and pitcher.
Therefore, you can use him as a pitcher and a hitter on the same day. In other words, you can have him in both lineups.

I am fine with the rule, but do not like the idea of using him as both pitcher and hitter on the same day. While he may be a better hitter than most pitchers, owners of Good hitting pitchers can not use his offense stats on the days they pitch. Mad Bum comes to mind. Other than that, nothing wrong with it. I would not oppose it.

I reject this argument on the following grounds....
You aren't getting stats from a pitching slot. You still have to use one of your hitting lineup spots for Ohtani the hitter. So it's not like you are getting 'extra' hitting stats. Even if you could, would you ever put MadBum (or any other pitcher) in the UTIL spot on a day he was pitching? We are all smarter than to do that.

MadBum would be the one pitcher to potentially use in the utility position. He is a better than average hitter with power. Injuries, off days and poor bench depth could result in his being a viable option.
Also, I don't know if I missed this part of the discussion, how will a trip to the DL or waivers be handled. Clearly, he should count as only one waiver spot, but Yahoo will require 2 DL spots.
Guys, from my perspective listening to this Ohtani talk and how we are going to handle him as a 2 way player....
Here is what I know. The people in the league believe that whoever drafts Ohtani should get rights to the full player, that is hitting and pitching BOTH. Now that we are in agreement with that, the logistics about how to handle him once the season comes around needs to wait until Yahoo fantasy baseball opens. We do not know how Yahoo will handle this debacle as this is really the first time in history (besides Babe Ruth and Mad Bum) that a pitcher can also hit. Once Yahoo opens and we know EXACTLY how they are handling it, then WE can decide how we are going to handle it.
I say we table this conversation until Yahoo opens.

Even if Madbum were good enough to be better than your options at UTIL (he isn't...but let's say he was) it would still be stupid to put him there because he is going to get 2 or 3 at bats per game by virtue of batting 9th and getting taken out when they go to the bullpen.
For the DL situation, you'd put one of him in your DL spot giving you the extra roster spot to use. No need to put 2 in a DL spot since we are expanding Yahoo rosters to 26. The other non-dl'ed Ohtani would function as the 26th man dead roster spot to prevent going over the limit.
