I guess if KC and chi agree we prob should go with what they want streaming wise. Luckily he will have minor league eligibility so no ww spot will be necessary

So we are going to make owning him a huge pain in the arse (not to mention make him completely unusable as a relief pitcher) because we don't trust teams to not pick up a 26th player?
ur splitting him again into pitcher/hitter. this is a special case. once he becomes elig. as EITHER a hitter OR a pitcher he then is considered a major league player.
Sorry guys. I was finally able to read through this thread. I'm afraid I'm not gonna be much help with this, as I don't feel strongly one way or the other. There have been a lot of good points made and I'm confident the leaders of this league will come up with a good solution and we can go from there.
Yanks raised an excellent point last night that shouldn't get lost in the shuffle.
Hitters need to hit 150ABs to be MLB eligible Pitchers 50 IPs
If he hits say pitching but not hitting, how do we treat the player? Are there any hembree considerations for the team that owns Ohtani?
the way ive always written the rule is that a player needs 150 at bats OR 50 ip to become a major league player. since we are treating ohtani as 1 player and not 2, if he hits either limit he is a full major league player.

So I've let this percolate for a bit....give everyone time to come around to the 26 man idea.
Let's make a final decision in the next 48 hours so that the top drafters know what they are getting into.
Let's hear from everyone.
I think the best solution is to set Yahoo up for 26 man rosters. Ohtani owners can use the extra spot for him. Otherwise, he's going to be a pretty useless player, especially if he ends up being a relief pitcher. I think it's the most fun way to take advantage of this special opportunity.
Whoever drafts Otani should get full control of him (whatever positions eligible). How to accomplish this, doesn’t matter to me. Make a 1 team exception or go to a 26 man roster doesn’t matter to me. I’m good either way.
My only issue would be the salary cap remaining the same if every team goes to 26 players. It’s not a huge deal, but if we do go to 26, total salary cap should adjust slightly with an increased roster size. Truly it’s not a big deal as long as the decision effects every manager equally
see even here and now detroit was under the wrong idea that the league goes to 26man roster. there will be people thruout the year hurrying and not paying attention to their roster size and adding a player by accident and then being severly punished. just look at the yahoo sheet and see 'you have 1 roster spot available'. every time you see that you have to remind yourself YOU DONT HAVE THAT SPOT AVAILABLE. 13 other teams have to be careful instead of only 1 team having to switch otani. if we go to 26 and there are more than 2 offenses then starting with the 3rd roster offense pitts gets fined too for this confusing rule. sorry pitts, this time ur way wrong.
