As it was said b4 by others, it's not the yrs, it's the CASH being paid that fricks up the entire system!
I think enough opinions have been expressed by now n we need some action...I suggest the 3 patriarchs (Chi/Pit/Min) of this league get together n decide r next step, I'm tired of reading about all this!

I'm the yrs are the unrealistic piece. Cash is crazy in baseball too. The angels paying for Josh Hamilton anyone.
What if we only went as far as people who win an MVP or cy young the previous yr must get more than a yr if they are free agents? That's 4 guys it affects only if they are free agents and you just have to give them a 2 yr deal but you could give more.
I still don't feel the need to defend this trade, I like what I received in 3 years of bogearts. yes the others pieces are just pieces what is really bothering me is the responses from other owners after the fact. I have been trying to trade him for awhile. Philly you said you didn't know about this but on March 8th I offered a trade to you for Kershaw. You said you wanted to see how things go and I said I wanted to trade him before the season starts. I am not upset the trade didn't come together, but please don't tell me you just found out I was trading him. Detroit I still think I like the trade I made getting MLB talent back, but I don't even see you ever made an offer of your 3 top prospects. The best I see is a top 50 ish prospect and 2 #1 milb picks. Again not upset we didn't come together and maybe that was something you would have offered if I had negotiated better, but not an offer I saw from you. I am very sick of people complaining and nothing changing. This is clearly not a strategy that people like, but it is currently allowed and and I feel it is a strategy that helps a rebuilding team. I was not prepared to win so kershaw had no value to my team other than getting pieces for the future. I am up for any rule change that stops eating this much salary or 1 year bidding as long as it does not seriously affect trading. I am just very sick of having this same conversation every two months for the last three years and nothing has been done to change or stop it. Complaining is not the answer.
KC your are correct, you did PM a trade offer on March 8. I completely forgot about it. That was 3 weeks ago, and have had 3 drafts since and prep for 8-10 hour one tomorrow. Not to mention 3 plays wiped out 1 weekend and practice for another play all week. So sorry, I remember a lot but not this one. I just noted I didn't see it on the message board.
I'm not ripping on your trade, make the deals you want, i'm cool with it. Just didn't like the fact Kershaw was won by you and traded without playing for you. I know thing can change in 3 months.
The definition of a salary cap: In professional sports, a salary cap (or wage cap) is an agreement or rule that places a limit on the amount of money that a team can spend on players' salaries. It exists as a per-player limit or a total limit for the team's roster, or both.
So, we call it a salary cap but it's really not. So, what is it? Start up money for playing a game like monopoly??

Amen, KC. I, too, am getting fatigued by this, every few months, ritual. It is becoming a distraction now, guys.
I have no confidence the league can reach consensus on its own. It is now my hope Pittsburgh arbitrates this for us, or we remain the same and move on, and this thing is put to bed. I am done commenting publicly on anyone's idea. It has become noise.
