Y not just treat RP's like BA does? After 30 games played, they would become Major League eligible. That's how BA does it's prospect lists. That would also reduce years sooner for r RP prospects.
Guys, this just adds another level of complication to "when" does a pitcher become eligible. It is getting confusing enough with all the rule changes, I suggest to just leave it alone.
If you can't sign em, no one else can either. Let them sit there...

I wouldn't want to change a rule based on simple majority. Should be either an overwhelming majority or else something the commishes just really feel is necessary.
I thought it was a good idea, but it's definitely not NECESSARY.

I think the proposed change was really just to avoid RPs from being treated unfairly like they currently r. If a rookie SP pitches in just 10 games, he can easily reach 50 IP minimum; however, it would probably take at least 50 GAMES pitched to reach that level 4 n RP. Totally unfair IMHO.
The proposed change would not b difficult to monitor, u'd just have to check games pitched, easy to find on Yahoo. BA has similar rule in place. I think having rule amended to read: 150 ABs, 50 IP, OR 30 Games Pitched is the fairest n simplest way 2 go.
What about a starter to closer (Chapman). To confusing. Keep it as it is. We are getting to many little/minor rules and will be hard to keep track off.

Everybody seems 2 get confused quite easily or just don't like change...it'd be either 50 IP or 30 Games Played. Wouldn't matter if they went from starter to closer or vice versa!

Philly brings up a great point, Yankees. On that oft occasion where eligibility is blurred, how does the league define an RP? A few years back Chapman was pegged as a future SP. Would you take that at face value, and define him as an SP? Does RP eligibility default to Yahoo giving one an RP designation? It is open to interpretation. I'm not adverse at all to a 25 IP cap/FA bid open on an RP. But we would need to nail that down, the definition of a relief pitcher in the context of a rule change. Meanwhile, we do have a system that works right now. It's really not a big deal either way.
