I gotta say. The idea that has intrigued me most is Chisox total contract as winner rather than X-million per year. What are the detractors of having a bidding system where total contract wins? Someone dissuade me.
I don't like it because it forces you to bid 5 years on every free agent. That is a very radical change.

How do u vote Yea or Nay, if u don't yet have a set plan in place??? It seems like no one can agree on HOW it's to be done. I like the concept but we need to come up w a final proposal to actually vote on!
i can see pitts concerns. once past a certain amount then just bump up the years to lessen the avg/yr amount.
then we go back to what i believe was a minny idea of in general, minny can confirm... $10-13 gets 3 yr contract 13.1-16 gets 4 yr contract you get the idea

they could be separate plans. but if you are voting for the franchise tag plan to increase the # of contract years people bid, then there would be no need for both.

Pitt, you get your wish. I don't like it. Once the talk of extending the franchise tag to additional years, I see the slippery slope. If we do not pass it now, it will keep coming up. Just leave it as it is.

Can we poll the various ideas out there and go from there? Nothing firm. Seems a waste when everyone is championing a different thing. I realize the original intent of the post was Pitts idea, and I find it intriguing. Didn't mean to help steer off the topic.
i traded degrom with 1 yr left on a multiple yr contract. can the team trading for degrom then extend him? does it transfer to the new team is what im trying to say.
