So I've been reading on fangraphs and they have these leagues with arbitration...
Each team gets $25 to allocate to players on other teams. Every owner has to allocate at least $1 to every other team and can allocate no more than $3 to any given team. The dollars to a given team can be given all to one player or split among up to three players (due to the $3 limit).

Obv we would have to choose how much could be put on a player to keep mookie Betts from going to 14 mil right when I call him up. Maybe it is 1 mil max on a team and .25 mil on any 1 player? Prob messy on sheets tho. Would be even possible Pitt?
The logistics of this would be a nightmare. But, I'm intrigued.
However, the caviot of having 2 drafts a year is to get prospects cheaper for their first years. This offers incentives to every mgr to draft and manage their minor leagues well. I'm not sure how this would impact young player contracts. I would need to hear more...

It would mean guys like mookie Betts would probably get a raise but even if everyone picked mookie it would be a few mil tops.
Rookie contracts are so cheap for so long so this could help.
You could pm your picks to assign .25 mil to a private acct like fa bids then assign new contract amt for remaining yrs. This would be after final rosters and before fa bidding I would think.

More for discussion really I know this league is like Congress, against everything so nothing ever passes. The way change happens in cashman is executive order!

We already simulate arbitration via the escalating salary. The effect is weak because the salary doesnt escalate that greatly. We could do something more realistic and complicated. Let me know what you decide and who will be designing the new sheets.

I'm not against having more complicated salary structures and rules. I think it's all interesting. It's just that so much of this league is already a manual process, as you know. If it were all automated, I'd be for all kinds of new rules. As it is, it's a part time job for 3 of us already.
