This is why Chicago and I always say there's no need to rush the free agent auction or milb draft. We've got 6 weeks of dead time now before the season starts.

yeah the Milb draft, I was kind of hoping would bump into February.
I'm not any kind of a scout or anything. All of my analysis comes from some other poor slob's hard work. So I rely on all of the numerous periodicals that hit in end of January on prospects. All the top 100s out there seem to be timed for end of January.
Just a thought for next year, maybe we could do the Milb in mid February.
I like doing the draft in January, it allows for people to do their own research on prospects and make decisions that way, not relying on top Prospect lists to make decisions.
For example, Jose Fernandez was picked up in the 5th round as an unknown prospect before the lists came out. Many owners here take the time and draft studs in later rounds before they hit the lists. I think we should keep the draft as usual.
Finishing at the top of the standings gets lower draft picks, that is the way it should be. But, the top teams, such as the Pirates and Phillies still get good players in the draft by doing their own scouting. Moving the draft date back in order for the new top prospect lists allows teams to get higher tier players that could be unknown players by some owners and could be picks made by owners that keep up with Minor League players throughout the year. It penalizes owners that keep up with the minors.
