Let's put auction commentary in a thread here and only post in the player threads if bidding. Keeps it easier to track what time they were last bid on.

No prob just. Preference more than a hard rule. Yeah this auction is a slow auction, emphasis on sloooow! Allows you to keep track of football or other life tho while keeping a little baseball going on as well.

Guys, as a suggestion for next year's FA, why cant we do a 24 hour eBay window on individual players regardless of bids? A rolling 24 hour window contingent to the last bid I think is overkill IMO. 24 hour window like an eBay bid I think is doable, and everybody just own showing up for their player's bid window. Shoot, you could even schedule out player FA bidding so people can show up to their targeted players.

You cant stop auction sniping IMO. I would argue that the current method, I could drag out this Jacoby Ellsbury bidding for quite some time if the bids come in infrequent, but the sniping would occur regardless. I dont know, just throwing it out there. I'm fine with this method. A little dejected I havnt won JE yet, but Detroit is gonna have to work for this one.
It happens, will continue to happen. If either really want Ellsbury, make a "manly" bid, not 0.1mil over the previous. Make it known you want to win him with a big bid.

I'm too scared to make a manly bid lmao! It is a valid point though SD. It speaks to I think us liking the player but acknowledging there might be a bad trend to consider. I suspect that bid is coming to a close soon. I'm not going 5 mil on the guy. If Detroit is, then he is more manly than me

Shields was a nice sneaky signing by LA. Me thinks some worse pitchers will go for more money later. With so few roster spots and so much money I am aiming higher otherwise I would have put a bid or two in.
