A little over 1 year ago, I controlled the 1st pick of the 2014 entry draft. Knowing I had my pick of anybody I wanted, I debated with myself about Tyler Kolek, Carlos Rodon and Kyle Schwarber, amongst a few others.
After deciding that Schwarber had the best upside of anyone in the draft, I decided to draft him at #1, even though I figured Rodon and Kolek would probably go #1 and #2 if I didn't have the pick. Now he's ranked #7 overall in the top 100!
Kudos to me for going outside the norm!
It's important to not just go by the picks, but rather than by the player himself!

Agreed. I had a somewhat similar dilemma in my 20 team dynasty. Had the 5th overrall pick. Moncada, Tomas, Castillo, and Rodon went in front. I wanted either Moncada or Schwarber. No regrets.
Everyone gets lucky, look at my minors, lucky with Correa, Bryant, Giolito. All picks look good, just a matter of them turning out to be good ones. Point is, agree, go with best player option, not by pick slot.
