Been awhile since we did this..looking forward to 2015 already:
Miguel Almonte, RHP, Royals (Low-A Lexington): When we talk about a prospect who could take a major step onto the prospect radar with a productive second half, Almonte comes to mind. The breaking ball is still developing, but the fastball can touch the upper 90s when needed, and the changeup has a chance to be special; 28.1 IP, 26 H, 7 ER, 6 BB, 35 K in five June starts.
Oswaldo Arcia, OF, Twins (Majors) Oswaldo Arcia went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI against the White Sox on Thursday. It was his first home run since being recalled on June 10. Arcia has big-time potential and has posted an impressive .273/.340/.477 triple slash as a 22-year-old rookie.
Taylor Guerrieri, P, Twins (High A) 12 starts, 2.29 Era, 59 IP, 47 K, 11 BB Ranked #25 on BP mid-season prospect list (up from 47.)
Adalberto Mondesi, SS, Royals (Low A) .258, 4 HR, 12 SB So what, right? Well, he turns 18 at the end of July. What were you doing when you were 17? I bet you weren't hitting .258 in a full season minor league!
Maikel Franco, 3B, Phillies (AA) Prospect Trajectory: Up; the 20-year-old keeps raking at the plate; questions about long-term defensive home could prevent massive leap, but the bat could put him in the discussion for a much higher tier. Mid-season ranking - #42. Was unranked prior to season.
