Not low blow, actually slippery slope. Commish now has power to ignore any written rule whenever he feels like it. The rules mean nothing and exceptions can be made at his whim. Commish's job is to maintain a level playing field, not tilt it whenever he feels like it.
You know, I agree with you. This is my 2nd year in the league and so far I believe that things have been fair and da commish has done well sticking to the rules. In argument to the reason why you are perturbed, I really did reply within 10 seconds of the post. I could have deleted it, there was another league member present at the time and my attention was distracted.
At this point I would have to say that a fair amount of strategy goes into free agent bidding. My team is not at the point yet where it can handle 4 - 20 million dollar contracts. In a few years this may be the case, but I'm still in the rebuilding phases.

I understand the Brewers concerns.
We all play in this league on a voluntary basis. When you join this league (or any league), you enter a contract with the other owners to do your best to operate within the framework (the rules) established by the league. Participation also requires a certain level of trust for the people who run the league. If that trust is not there, that is...you do not trust the person or persons running the league to act fairly, impartially, and in the best interest of the league, then you really should not be in the league.
The folks running the league have a responsibility to all of the owners to treat all of them equally and to do the best to make it a fair and fun league. If a commish abuses the power, the league will disintegrate.
So, i guess what I am saying is that if you feel that if anyone feels that I and Chicago are not running the league in a fair manner, then please know that for everyone's sake, you are invited to find another league. I hope that does not happen and I hope we have not abused the league's trust. I am not trying to censor anyone. Please feel free to voice concerns in the future if you see something you don't like. But at some point it is time to move on...and I believe everyone has now had their say about the Votto issue.
So thanks to everyone for another successful off-season program, and good luck with the blind bidding!
i'm sorry but the 1 minute just wasnt a big deal to me. det could have just deleted it and no one would be the wiser. both pitts and i have tried to be fair and honest thru-out the 5 years. we've tried to balance the rules to be playable and fun. if you feel that i acted dishonestly or cheated then do what you must. if you feel that it would be in the best interest of the league to assume my responsibilities in league matters just say the word. i'll happily step down. and lastly, if you want me to capitalize letters...SORRY.
