What about adding 3 more dfa slots after your waivers are full. Im picturing these guys dfa that risk being claimed for a week then it turns to ww4. If a team claims maybe they have to keep them on active roster. Thoughts?

OR we could make all waivers subject to passing through a claim process next yr. I'm thinking a way to simulate the way you have to chance passing a player thru waivers or Rule 5 draft kinda. I think we have enough players taken so we don't need to expand rosters IMO

In general, I'm not in favor of adding additional roster spots, with the exception of adding DL spots. We already allow 25 + 3 WW + virtually unlimited minor league guys. Adding more roster spots is just a way to push back having to make hard decisions. But it's those hard decisions that make the league more interesting. Adding more roster spots is going to reduce trades and free agent transactions.
Now, I am in favor of having as many DL spots as Yahoo will allow. I don't want anyone to have to play with a short roster because of injuries. Here's an idea...
What if we had added a 'long term DL' spot for guys who are on the 60 day DL? You wouldn't have to keep these guys on your Yahoo roster. We could add them to the spreadsheet. You'd retain their rights. Here's some quick rules (honestl,y I just came up with this 30 seconds ago, so this might not be well thought out):
1. The player has to be on the 60 day DL in real life 2. Once you move that player to the 60 day DL, you can't bring him back until next season even if he comes back from the DL in real life 3. You can't cut or trade someone on your long term DL. So once a player goes there, you are stuck with his salary for the rest of the season
Basically, this is a way to extend the Yahoo DL spots for players who are out for an extended period. The restrictions are in place to keep people from using them to hoard players.

4. Also, in order to add someone to your long term DL, you had to have owned him before he went on the 60 day dl. You can't use these spots to pick up injured guys and hoard them.
i would be in favor of adding additional DL spots if needed. last year several teams were chock full of injuries but yahoo limited them to 5 on the dl. just account for them on the spreadsheet.
the league works best the way it was created....player movement. no extended contracts, no additional roster spots. sooner or later you have to make the tough decisions, you can only have 25 on your active roster.
I think the long term DL sounds like a solid idea. It can help you if you run into a string of injuries, but with the rules you have stated it should kep people from using it to hoard player. I would also be open to the waiver wire 4 with claiming. The only issue i see is it would be adding work for someone.
