I've thought about this for quite awhile...but I think it is a good idea that new owners not be allowed to make trade for 1 month. The rules here are complicated. Everyone needs an adjustment period before the vultures descend.
In theory, I think it would be better if the rules were better defined/compiled and there were a new owner agreement that would need to be read and signed. Of course, I am well aware that this would necessitate a lot of work for person(s) who are not me.

we all would like the rules to be better defined. at one point i had intended to do that. if someone wants to take up that cross, by all means have at it! as it is, i have a hard enough time keeping up with day to day transactions.
I think a one-month ban from trades is a little harsh. How about putting new managers on a one month probation, where all of their trades have to be approved by a three person commitee before being posted on Proboards? This would allow time to iron out the kinks without getting everyone in an uproar. Those sitting on the committee could be permanent or chosen randomly, and, any member involved in a trade with a new member during the probationary period would not be allowed to be on the commitee for that particular trade.

I like Milwaukee's idea. I agree that it is harsh to prevent trades for one month, especially if they walk into a team that is contending for the championship.
it was just a simple misinterpretation of the rules. a quick 1 page outline of what happens in this league, how we do things, should work. i dont think we need to place a 1 month ban on a new manager. half the fun of getting a new team is to transact your way to competitiveness.
I think the adjustment period would be well served for new owners but how often do you really have new owners? It seems like this is a pretty solid league with little turnover. Looking back on it, I don't think I've made a trade that I wouldn't have while learning the ropes of the league. I almost made a bad one because I was confused on the FA Auction and Cap rules but it worked itself out. I would support an adjustment period but I am fully engaged at this point so it wouldn't apply to me. I just wish I could drop the horrid NY Yankees team name
