to prevent a lull during the offseason, phillies proposed to extend free agent bidding with breaks around holidays and MiLB draft to keep interest until the season starts. i would start by suggesting the following:
wed sept. 28 - last day of regular season
tues nov. 4 - submit final rosters
sat nov. 8 - begin free agency bidding 8am (2 active at one time)
BREAK wed nov. 23-28 thanksgiving (commish will announce last player to be bid on as time approaches).
tues nov. 29 - free agency bidding resumes 8am
BREAK fri dec. 23-26 christmas (commish will announce last player to be bid on as time approaches).
tues dec. 27 - free agency bidding resumes 8am
BREAK fri jan. 6 -conduct MiLB draft begin mon. jan. 9 - 15 (commish will announce last player to be bid on as time approaches).
mon jan. 16 - free agency bidding resumes 8am
thur feb. 9 - commish decides to extend bidding to 3 players per day in order to finish prior to start of spring training baseball.
this schedule should keep up busy & interested in the offseason until baseball begins.
i'm open to ideas or suggestions.
really, it's this or pittsburgh's rants about who should be in the hall of fame or not.
**commishs decision** based on players in line for free agency. if a player next on the board might take 3 days then call it a day sooner & resume with a big bidder after the break.
i still like the 12 hours rule.
no break over new years eve/day.

personally, i dont mind the breaks. they arent so long that we lose track of the leagues. and i have other keeper leagues that i can catch up on during that time. plus i really dont mind the break right now since its nfl playoff time. and everyone can use a break during the holidays.
anybody else in favor of extended the FA bidding period?
i didn't do a break over new years eve/day because i thought it would be confusing with just getting back from the christmas break. maybe take the whole week off??
according to philly's schedule... whats the difference between having a month off now and having the whole of october off in the schedule above? i dont mind the lay-off tho i can see philly's point of view. either expand the free agents to bid on, there were plenty that werent included this year. go back and look at the list. MiLB draft. 2 picks/day ='s 1 round/week. that draft then would run for 5 weeks....and we would be finishing it around now.
