Prior to the start of the MiLB draft (date is TBA), each team will be allowed to extend the minor league contract of 1 and only 1 prospect up to a total of 5 years.
You may not extend a minor league contract beyond 5 years.
You do not have to extend the contract all the way to 5 years.
You may not reduce the number of years on a contract.
Any prospect on your roster on the day the extension is made is eligible.
Years added to prospects under this special exemption will follow the player even if he is traded.
This is a one time special exemption and will not be repeated.
