Pirates trade the bounty that is: Adam Lind, OF PTBNL (Andrew McCutchen, OF) PTBNL (Fernando Martinez, OF) Derek Holland, P Martin Prado, 2B
Royals give up the paltry sum of: Dustin Pedroia, 2b John Danks, P
There are 2 ptbnl because the Royals are at the 75 year limit. McCutchen is at 137 at bats, so when he hits 150, he gets 'named' in the deal and the Royals get him.
Martinez is only at 91 at bats and might not make it this year. If he makes the 150, he gets 'named' and the Royals get him. If he does not reach 150 at bats by the end of the year, the Royals agree to add Jordan Shafer to the deal to even out the years and compensate me for having to carry Martinez's sorry arse.
let see now, one side says there is no provision for it the other says it doesnt say we cant. i say i have enough to do with the spreadsheet, trades, draft choice ownership, daily promotions, demotions, FA, FA draft, entry draft....i dont want to devote any more time keeping track of anything else. we've gone 1-1/2 years without this. keep it simple. pitt you have enough years to absorb an equal amount of years to open up for kc. kc you have these 'marginal' prospects to give to open space up. Wade LeBlanc 3 brent sinkbeil2, aaron cunningham2 chris valaika 3 jon lucroy 3 i suggest you use these guys or re-do the deal. admin
I can see where both pitt and kc would consider a deal as such. Official provision is NO PTBNL. Sorry I didnt consider it earlier. Dont want to hear any crying from either manager. You can easily hammer out a deal with the likes of brett s(t)inkbeil ++.

i dont want any toxic assets clogging up my list which would handcuff me in the next draft. im already giving up a kings ransom here.
if i cant hold mccutchen for a week and martinez potentially through the end of the year, then i guess the deal is off unless kc wants to give a decent prospect.

for the record, i can see no provision for brewers to protest this trade since trade protests arent in the rules.
i abide by the ruling of the commissioner however as his burden is already heavy. just be aware that i will be watching transactions much more closely now.

one last word as i should have put this in the same post but.....i dont see how we were asking the commish to do any extra work nor how we were causing any harm to other owners or the league. but i again i accept the authority of the commish even as i disagree with the reason.
(it would be up to the royals to keep track of martinezs at bats and our responsibility to inform you when the ptbnl can be moved.)
just want to keep this thing simple. a deal is complete when 2 parties agree. nothing in the future. toxic assets? ur giving 7 and receving 7!! its a 0 sum game. you'd still have only 67 contract years. extra work? i'm doing spreadsheet for the league because of some......unintentional errors. we talked about this. ur are the leagues backup. we cant even get volunteers this year to update the standings page daily. i will not do this chore. you can drop any minor guy you want before the next MiLB draft in January. ur not screwing yourself.

so, um, what is to stop us from doing the deal, without martinez. then i trade him martinez for nothing later on? its the same thing really. no extra work on your part. royals is responsible for notifying you (here in the trade forum) when to move martinez. its no more work and nothing more to keep track.
im not arguing that you should change your ruling. im basically just trying to show that i wasnt trying to get away with anything or cause anyone else any work.
in order to do this deal today, id need to take on 7 years of minor league dreck from royals. no thanks. that kills the deal for me.

I don't think we should allow PTBNL. The limits are in place for a reason. You should have to get rid of your years to make room or wait to do the deal until players make it to the majors ect. Also you cant "trade" / give someone to another team for nothing.
