I am cap strapped, and just wanted to raise some questions. Everything is a just curious scenario...
What are the regulations on financial transfers? Can a major leaguer be traded for cash/cap room? Ridiculous hypothetical example: Can I trade B. Webb straight up for 15 million dollars cap room this season? If not, can I trade B. Webb for a minor league guy and 10 million cash/cap room for this year? If not can I trade Webb for a major leaguer who makes the min $325,000 and 10 million this year? Or can the amount of cash consideration only be as much as the contract that the player I acquire has (in the example the most cash I could get would be $325,000) and if I want 10 million cap room I need to trade for a 10 million contract and have the other team cover the contract. Discuss...

ive made some trades where ive payed the entirety of the salary of the player i was trading. and ive made trades where i got or gave money that was in excess of the salaries involved.
however, never did it even approach $15 mill. it's one of those things where it's allowed by the letter of the law, but there is probably an unwritten rule that the commish can make a decision in the best interests of the league to disallow or ask a trade to be restructured if the amounts get out of hand. at least that's how it work in actual mlb.
i will add that i will never complain about or question any trade as long as i thought both teams were acting in the good faith interests of their own teams.
i dont really have any problems with an owner 'steinbrennering'. if someone wants to give you 10mil and also assume the large contract thats fine with me as long as both teams stay within the cap. there may be some subleties of these types of deals that you may think of later. please mention any here so we can hash it out.

I don't even have an idea that I would want to do. I just was working a proposal and couldn't find a way to make it work financially so was curious about ways to open cap room without cutting people (after cutting Brett Myers last year I am shy to do that-haha)
