Before Othani the largest contract given out was 9 years 360mil which Aaron judge got. That’s 40 mil per year and that should be the bench mark, and not Othani.
So if he does sign 12 years it could be close to 500mil, However, all those guys that paid huge amount of money (judge, Harper, Trout etc) were plus defenders. Is a team really going to pay 500mil to a good hitter but a poor defender who is basically a DH?
Who knows, but Boras is his agent and he will try and get every penny out of teams
