Moderator to adjust any rules addendum
"FREE AGENCY AND RULES (Moderator: Detroit, and whoever wants to help)
You can’t bid on a free agent unless you have an open spot on your roster and have the cash. So, if any team does not have an open spot and/or is running a negative balance at this time, they can’t participate unless they have an open roster spot and have enough to bid on players.
Free Agency starts at Saturday, October 28, 2023 @ 8 AM EST...
An initial list of free agents will be published (see separate thread) and the team that finished last (Philadelphia Phillies) this past season, will select where on the list we will begin (Ronald Acuna Jr.). We will then go in that order. Players not on this list can be acquired using silent bidding when it reopens at the end of FA. You can also request a player be added to the list, and with a second nomination from another team, the free agent will be added to the end of the list. Players cut during free agency can be included at discretion of moderator. If added, they will be placed at end of the FA list also.
We will have 3 players in play at any time. This value can change at the discretion of the moderator. Once a player is won in auction or there is no action for a player, then the next player on the list is in play. Free agency ends when this list is exhausted. Regular silent bidding for FA's as used during the season then starts...again on WED/SUN.
When there is no bid after 24 hours the player is then awarded to the last bidder.
You can start the bidding at $325,000. The minimum incremental bid for a player is $100,000.
12 HOUR RULE:
If there is no opening bid for a player after 12 hours then he is eliminated and next player nominated. If a player gets even 1 bid then normal auction rules apply. We wait 24 hours.
If you miss a '12-hour' auction you have 24hrs from end of it to contact moderator to re-instate player. Moderator will then place the auction ASAP and when 'nominated' automatically place the min bid in teams name. The auction then goes as normal.
Once free agency starts all salary figures/adjustments will use 2024 salaries. YOU MUST BE AT/UNDER CAP AT THIS TIME and for the remainder of the season.
During free agency, trading is open and you can always drop a player to open up a spot to bid on a free agent. Just announce your drop in the normal way.
Remember, minimum opening bid is $325,000...you can start higher.
Minimum incremental bid is $100,000...you can place a higher bid.
Remember its the highest bid amount that wins, not total $$$ of contract. 1mil @ 1 yr beats 350K @ 3 yrs.
Since the auctions will end at different times, anyone else can 'nominate' the next player on the list, once an Auction ends. Please, no early listings. Only 2 players at any one time. We can turn it up to 3 if there is enough request.
You always have the option of dropping a player so you can bid on another. Remember you need to have open spots on your roster to bid.
There will be breaks as needed for Holidays! We will discuss as we approach Thanksgiving and Xmas.
Do we all have to have a 26 man roster at the end of Free Agency? No, you can have less than 26. You will need 26 by the time Yahoo opens for next season's play.
Under no circumstances can a bid be withdrawn.
Since Bids r Time Sensitive, there will be NO Edits allowed on a Bid. If u Bid wrong years or amount, u will need to make a NEW Bid!
No misc chat postings within the 'Auction Starts Here' Live bidding forum. It's distracting. More importantly it messes up the auction clock. Don't be that guy. If you have thoughts, concerns, or you just wanna jibba jabba about the auction, create a thread in the "Chat Area" like a civilized person would do (Brew's words not mine, but solid nonetheless...LMAO!)
U can always Post (where appropriate) or PM me direct, with any questions or concerns!!
Let's get ready to rumble."
