Let's clarify the rule that people don't have to stay down for 5 days just stay up for 5 days then. It's about helping your big club. If you are going to start/stream them you need to keep em around but no need to keep someone demoted if you could use them at the big club

If I recall correctly, the intent of 5 day rule was mostly to prevent “streaming”, whereby a team calls up a SP for 1 start n then immediately demotes after the start to free up a roster spot. I think ideally, mostly for admin reasons, it’s desired not to flip flop unnecessarily unless there’s an injury, trade, or other roster change. For example, having demoted a player to WW to create an open roster spot but a day later one of ur starters goes on IL, u should b allowed to Promote WW player back (b4 5 days) to MLB squad without delay. I don’t think Promotions should b restricted BUT once Promoted u should have to Roster that player at least 5 days! I guess exceptions would b if that player was subsequently injured or traded off roster.
I think in order to keep this simple and not complicate things, 5 days up, 5 days down seems reasonable.
There are stipulations in the rule that allow you to bring back someone to your active roster if someone gets put on IL, goes out on paternity list.
Forcing someone to think about moving someone on waiver to you roster or back to WW list is necessary. If you recall someone on Saturday, then bud on someone on Sunday to replace said WW recall, IMO this is streaming.
If you can’t wait 5 days to demote or promote one of these players, then you probably don’t need to make a move at all.
