Y did it take 2 weeks to ADD Montero in Yahoo? Hope it was just an oversight, but we as Owners gotta take care of r business in Yahoo, Admin does NOT do that for us!

I also had a bid on someone who showed available because the person who won them the previous fa bid period hadn't picked them up. Did we ever have a period of time that Yahoo work had to be completed?

I disagree. What about drops or demotions? Then ppl would be getting stats they shouldn't. And it allows them to sign someone and hold them hostage without taking a Yahoo spot possibly manipulating il spots.

My initial reaction was to agree with Detroit on this but minny makes a good point, plus it can just get plain annoying. Looking back I remember just before the season started I had won a FA bid for a player that had been previously won a couple weeks prior but never added. Luckily the error was caught but had it not been we would have had a bigger situation on our hands.
It probably hasn’t been a huge issue with as long as most owners stick around here, but we are seeing a huge influx of new people this year and last where more mistakes will be made. It might make sense to create some more structure on the front end to avoid the arguing on the backend.
Are you guys kidding, we started a chat about this? Oh my God guys relax. It was an oversight, I literally just forgot to go make the pick up. Nobody’s manipulating anything. The commissioner is right, I’m the one who lost out on Montero’s stats during that time but, this is not something that happens all the time, or every week, or something that needs to be made into such a big deal. Every time something happens that doesn’t go exactly how you all want to do, does not mean that it’s always being done for Shady reasons. All of you need to take a chill pill. 🙄🙄🙄

Boston I agree that this is far from the end of the world. I don't think anyone is accusing you of doing anything shady, but the idea that someone could manipulate the system exists. Also just the fact that it can be frustrating as an owner when you may have one open roster spot to add a FA and you use that available bid to grab a player that is unavailable meanwhile you miss out on someone else you could have bid on. That happened to me last season and I had to have a position open until the next Wednesday/Sunday whatever it was.
I'm a fan of seeing it addressed mostly because things do fall through the cracks. If someone does get picked up twice by mistake and starts accumulating stats for an owner that shouldn't have that player things can get ugly. If everyone in the league right now had been invested for a few years I don't think it's an issue at all, but for newer people who don't have the longevity it becomes really easy to leave a league over trivial matters. I think it makes sense to have a rule in place not to shame anyone, but to have something in writing to avoid an argument escalating.
Guys, I see valid points on both sides. It’s fair, but way overblown.
If you have 1 open roster spot and only bid on 1 FA, then it’s your fault for not putting in a contingency bid. Just because you bid on someone, this does not mean you are going to win the bid. Have a contingency if it’s that important.
We are not going to start making rules for these little items. There will always be some gray area that our rules don’t cover. If it’s something that makes it unfair for some, we’ll make a rule so that everyone has the same treatment.
Some might see this as a bigger issue, but it’s not. If we make rules for every little foul, it just sucks all the fun out of this league. I am all for structure. But, I’ve tried to loosen up some of the rules that were bigger contention points over the last year+. We have a lot of owners that have ~ 1 year or less in the league. True engagement by some of our newest owners will come during our off-season program (I’m sure of it). Ask someone to take over a dying or neglected team mid-season and people are a little disinterested. So, I can understand some of the tenured managers frustrations. But, I have seen engagement by all but 1 of our owners in the FA bids. I think we are ok here. I’m not afraid to make changes to ownership if we have no engagement or repeated problems. But, this issue doesn’t affect anyone other than Boston. He screwed himself for 5 days.
There are 2 things that I will do to address this issue.
1. I will start putting reminders in the FA bids “Don’t forget to do your Yahoos”. This was a thing a bit ago, so it’s obvious this is not the first time this has happened.
2. I will clean up our charter and make it a living document on the Proboards, so there are no excuses for non-compliance of our structure.
