1. Maximum number of minor league years for 2022 is now 80. 2. In 2023 it will move to 85. We will also add round 6 to our MiLB draft starting in 2023. * the rest will be figured out over the next season. I want to add another round to the entry draft too in 2024. I want more discussion on this first.*
3. Minor league player drops will be allowed at any time, for any reason.
4. There will be a maximum of 2 FA bids, bidding cycles to rectify openings in your roster. Meaning, if you do not have a complete, legal lineup, after 2 FA bidding periods, not only will players be added to your roster, you will be fined - $250k 1st offense - $500k 2nd offense - $2.5M 3rd offense - 4th offense in a season, you’re out.
5. Qualifying Offer, AKA “QO” will go into effect at the end of the 2022 Cashman season.
- At the end of the 2022 season, each team can select (but does not have to) 1 player from their roster with an expiring contract that is $5M or less and sign them 1 time only for 1 additional year of service at a fixed rate of $7.8M.
We’re gonna try it. We will re-evaluate it if we don’t like it or want to modify it.
I expect this is a lot of information to digest. If you have questions, feel free to start a discussion thread or PM me. I wanted to put this out there before we submit our final rosters for 2021/2022.

A QO question. Does the player only have to be on our roster prior to the final day of the season? The full season? By the All-Star Break? Can we trade for a QO player after the season ends but before we submit our roster for 2022? It is better to ask now than get burned later.

Are we keeping the qual offer next year? I assume yes since nobody has complained and no votes or anything has occured? Kinda need to know pending trade.
