Goal: Provide incentive for teams who are not in contention to finish with as many points as possible without making it too difficult to dig yourself out of the cellar.
This proposal is inspired by some of the rule changes MLB is tossing around with regard to using revenue sharing as a disincentive for tanking.
The proposed rule change is this... team's will get extra 'in-season' salary cap room depending on their finish in the previous year.
We could create tiers and based on those tiers, you get extra cash to use IN SEASON (not for FA bidding) for the next season.
Example:
Teams 1-2... no extra cash. Flags are reward enough. Teams 3-8... salary cap goes to $95m on opening day. Teams 9-13... salary cap goes to $93m on opening day. Team 14... shoulda tried harder.
I think it's just enough to provide incentive to not finish last, while not enough to make it too hard to move up in the standings.

Cap space In Season not bad at all Pitts. Curious, how are you going to make that work on the sheets? That seems a lil tricky no? That seems like you'll be doing 12 manual toggles every year on the sheets side. Alot of moving parts and work on your part.
The waivers might be an easier way to go. I like the money part, just feel bad if thats more work for you.
Anything that waters down draft picks, I dont like it. Little extra cash In Season after FAAB bidding for use during regular Yahoo play season I think is good, or extra waiver spots to stash players. Extra MiLB draft picks, I would be totally against.

The sheets thing isn't hard. It's 1 cell on everyone's sheets.
I’m not a fan or rewarding teams 3-8 with extra draft picks or WW spots. It’s being rewarded for sucking, just not sucking the worst, yet the top teams are given anything? There is NO trophy for 2nd place BTW...
I like the idea of being given extra “in season” cap space. For me, the only thing needed to be discussed would be on the structure of rewards vs position.

I didn’t think actual “tanking” occurred since many teams don’t even own their own draft picks anymore. I always felt the BIGGER problem was “Dumping”. As in trading players n money for picks/prospects, thereby leaving their current teams even weaker to compete. I’d still like to see the pay 100% of salary after ASB go away!
The way it stands now, after the ASB but with like 2 months left, I could trade Mike Trout n PAY his entire $40M contract to Detroit for a couple #1’s n a Top prospect so he can overtake Minny n get his 1st League Championship. How is that even fair??? Lol

Rethinking my earlier post about tanking, I think it would be a better idea to use a plan similar to our failure to reach the minimum innings pitched. We set a minimum number of points for the season. If your team fails to reach the limit, you lose $ for each point under minimum. This allows a good last place team to not be fined, but would also allow multiple teams to lose $ if they fail to reach the minimum points.
