Have we discussed this? I know people have paid cash as part of a players contract, but can you trade a player for cash in a future year? Seems like a bad idea to me.

we've had guys outright buy draft picks. i agree that there is some potential for abuse, but there is the same potential for abuse in trading end of contract gys. hasnt been a problem. yet. that said, lots of guys trade players and agree to pay significant amounts of the traded player salary. no eal difference in just swapping players for cash.

one thing to add...if it looks like collusion, any such transactions will be denied. but if both teams are making a good faith effort to improve their teams...imhave no problem with it.
