MiLB misunderstanding?

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I wrongly was under the impression that when you assign major league years to a player that supercedes any minor league years. Majors matter over minors. If we put it to a vote (maybe we should this offseason?) I would vote for this interpretation.

Either way at least I know what the rule is right now and obviously will respect it accordingly.

Ok. Sounds like the commish isn't going to budge this year. So if Yanks agrees, let's nullify the trade either now or at the end of the year. I don't care as long as I don't get screwed out of all of LIncecums and Haren's starts.

If anyone wants to pursue a rule change in the offseason, you know where I stand. I have a couple of players I never would have drafted if I thought the rule was interpreted this way. Why would anyone ever draft an 18 year old in this league?

I misunderstood the rule as well, I definitely would have changed some of my minor leaguers contracts if I knew they had to go over the 150 ip mark for me to keep them even if they had a major league contract.

Yes, and if I hadn't made my selections with the correct definition of the rule in mind, I would have selected different players as well. If the rule is changed after the fact, I get penalized for following the rule correctly!

you guys are cryin' over nothing. there is only 1 player this year, jennings and 1 next year, moose, that will/may be lost. the others havent done anything to get excited about.

so far it looks to me its working. the players are attaining status within the assigned years for the vast majority.

for the handful of original players....remember the league we were in? We had something called a franchise tag that we could place on 1 player if we had enough years to cover it.
Anybody remember how that worked?
this could remedy this situation for next year and keep the rule as is.

Sorry, but I believe all minor leaguers should be governed by the rules in place at the time they were drafted. I would have drafted quite differently if I knew we weren't going to follow the rules.

I agree with Milwaukee. If we want to change the rule it should be for future drafts.
