I would just like to say that this is a really lop-sided trade. Perhaps when Torkelson was a prospect he would have coveted such a great return, but for someone that hits .230 - this is a HUGE return.

Tork is a starter in cashman and former top prospect. Mostly depends how you value James wood. Burger is replacement level or so, Moreno is a catcher, and late entry pick. There has been worse this off-season.
No argument from me Minny. Just stating my opinion and observation. For me, this is a bit egregious, but not outside of the realm of possible outcomes.

Interesting that of all the recent trades, this is the one you choose to critique, Tigers.
People do improve, it was Torks rookie season. Does that mean you've written off Elly De La Cruz too? Because he hit .235? James Wood hasn't played a single inning of MLB baseball - complete gamble. One I might lose, who knows. Also, the 2024 entry draft class is weak.
Can I have access to your crystal ball? Since you know all?
Hey New Philly! Thanks for the kind words. I’ve purposely left my “opinions” to myself to allow the transaction to be completed and processed before I chimed in. It’s my place to make sure the league runs well, so I think my “opinions”, whether you agree with them or not, are meant to be heard. I also think there are 13 other opinions in this league, each of them with an equal voice. Our long standing members know I’m big on shared opinions. We don’t need to agree with one another. But, we do need to respect each others space.
I’ll give it a pass, but if you know some Cashman’s history, you will see that I’m the one who drafted Tork. I’m also the one who held on to him, despite bigger offers than the one accepted here. I’m a fan of his and I would like to see him live up to his potential.
But, let’s look at facts. This was Tork’s second year. He’s hit .220 and .233 over 966 at bats. Collectively, that’s an average of .222. In Cashman’s he was ranked 180th this year. Will he improve? IDK. I just know he’s pretty average now.
My previous comments should have been written more specifically. I simply think it’s a large return for an average player. That being said, I tend to value high draft picks and high ranked minor league prospects higher than some people. I mean, who wants to spend $41M on Acuna? I would rather find the next Acuna in the draft and sign him to a long term, cheap rookie contract. Prospects are always a gamble. I’ve also had man-crushes on certain players and I would over pay to acquire these players. Everyone is different, and that’s ok.
I’m glad to see you newer guys active in the league and making moves. It’s good for the league as a whole. I didn’t want to stop the transaction from happening by filling this thread with opinions prior to it being processed. I don’t veto trades in this league. I have, and will continue to voice my opinions to keep good competitive balance in this league.

I don’t get the Tork hype, mostly just because it seems everyone gets 1B eligibility these days. Could also be because I’m the dummy that traded Austin Riley for him and have to relive that pain with every Riley HR. A lot of the ranking sites love the guy for 2024 though and he is only 24 so idk. After the Matt McLain jokes last year I’m done with hard stances on guys before they turn 25

Veto the trade then, idc. What is the point of criticizing it but not taking action?
What are your thoughts on the Adley trade? No public criticism there? You only have an issue with this one?
Whatever. Every move I make comes with some sort of scrutiny from someone. So I’m done trying. I’ll just drift off to obscurity with the other half of the league.
I think we need to relax a bit. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Philly obv wanted Tork and has a plan. What the deal was he was comfortable with. So it is what it is. There has been many trades way more lopsided then this over the years and I'm sure there will be more. If both parties were ok with the trade then that's it. Man off-season just started.
