The draft is later than normal this year, with some new rules for signing players. The snip below is from the Athletic.
“When is the deadline for draft picks to sign?”
Aug. 1. Players selected in the draft will have until Aug. 1 to sign with their selecting teams, unless that player has exhausted their collegiate eligibility. Those players are free to sign at any time up until one week prior to the next year’s draft. In addition, those high school and two-year college draft picks who are selected after the 10th round who attend a two-year college after the draft are eligible to sign with their selecting teams up until a week before the next year’s draft. This is called a “draft-and-follow” pick.
With that said, we should start considering a date for our draft, and a moderator as well. My suggestions on start dates are:
Saturday, August 13 Saturday, August 20 Saturday, September 10 Saturday, September 17
I offer later suggestions as people vacation in the summer, but if y’all wanna do it earlier we can. Let’s hear what you think.
Any new volunteers to setup and moderate the draft?
I think we are going to hold off on this draft (this year) due to so many new owners. I think this is best to schedule at the beginning of our off-season routine.

I don't think that is necessary. It's only a draft with limited pool to people drafted in the MLB entry draft. With that said I don't care as I have no picks so doesn't really matter to me.
